Public interest in these small carvings was strong and requests began for these pieces alone, to be used for jewelry or other ornamentation. Over the years the process has been further refined and developed, evolving into the unique and specialized process I use today. Each piece is strong enough to be worn practically, without unnecessary concern about breakage.

Pintail

Also know as Sprig the Pintail with its longer neck and long tail is several inches longer than mallards while actually weighing about 20% less. Swift in flight and graceful in appearance the Pintail can also be recognized at a distance by the male’s short distinctive whistling call.

Pintail population surveys have usually recognized them as the second of third most abundant duck species in North America. Pintails have the widest range in the Northern Hemisphere of any other ducks. They winter as far south as Borneo Malaysia, India, and Central Africa. Breeding populations move as far north as Siberia, the Scandinavian Peninsula, Iceland and Greenland in the summer.

The North American range includes the Great Lakes, Central Kansas, southern Colorado, northwester New Mexico and southern California.
